New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo is still trying to walk back his America “was never that great” comments of a few days ago.His accidental candor and slander has created the backlash it deserves from patriotic Americanos.
Lefties, especially office-holding and office-seeking lefties, rarely say what they really think, especially about what a dismal opinion they have of the country that has provided them with so much. Cuomo’s moment of truth is one of the more dramatic examples of an ideological costume malfunction. (Some would call it a political nip-slip.) His attempts to walk it back have been lame and not credible to any but the most devoted leftist True Believers. The man spoke from such heart as he has, and it was obvious.
I’m glad Cuomo has been taken to task for his national insult. But I’m still waiting for the two obvious questions to be asked, dare we hope by a journalist, to wit:If America is as sorry as you seem to think it is Governor, why did your grandparents leave their home in Italy at great effort, expense, and risk to come here? And how did they prosper sufficiently in this awful place to produce the pampered, privileged, arrogant, elitist, know-nothing ingrate that you turned out to be?
