Sen. Lee: Twitter, Facebook Hypocrites for Blocking Biden Story
Sen. Mike Lee Thursday slammed Twitter and Facebook for committing a “stunning display of hypocrisy and of favoritism” by blocking the New York Post’s expose on emails found on a laptop purportedly owned by Democrat nominee Joe Biden’s son Hunter.
“First, they said this is misinformation, so we didn’t want to run with it,” the Utah Republican said on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.” “Well, of course, they have been running with misinformation for years, but let’s set that aside for a minute.”
Then, Twitter said the information “wasn’t legally obtained,” but that wasn’t a distinction, because “they have printed all sorts of things on Trump that was itself illegally obtained, so what we see going on here is a blatant display of favoritism and of hypocrisy among these tech companies. Deeply disturbing.”
Show co-host Brian Kilmeade noted that one of the emails reportedly said that Hunter Biden was accepting money from a Chinese energy firm, with a notation that 10% of the money coming in was “for H for the Big Guy.”
“So, you wonder how far it goes up, not just Hunter Biden with the substance problem trying to cash in on his dad’s name, which, as untasteful as it is, might be legal,” said Kilmeade.
“That was news to me,” said Lee. “I have learned that as of just the last few hours. I haven’t been able to confirm that we are combing through as you might imagine we receive tens of thousands of emails and we haven’t been able to verify that we heard from anybody on this. But, we will keep you posted on that.”
He also responded to another show co-host, Steve Doocy, when he asked him if it was “a little suspicious” that President Donald Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, gave a copy of the laptop’s hard drive to the Post.
“Suspicious or not, these things either are real emails or they are not,” answered Lee. “These events either transpired or they didn’t.”
